  2. December - The Month Ahead mod_merchant December 01 2016 The Month Ahead - December Christmas, the Deadman Finale, and a glimpse at Raids! There's a whole host of things to look forward to in December. Raids Development Update Work on Raids is approaching the final touches!. Bosses are being polished, rooms tweaked and balancing tested as we head towards the launch at the start of January. You've already met some of the bosses like Tekton & Olm, but we've been releasing some details of others, in case you missed it, here is the sinister "Vasa Nistirio", along with a little bit of back story for the deranged ex-priest. Early on in the month we'll be ready for the raids Load Test. This is where we'll need your help in order to ensure everything goes smoothly when Raids launches in early January. As a stress test, players will be able to utilise the new group-finding system and explore some of the environments in which you'll be adventuring come Raids. You won't be able to take on the challenges of the dungeons yet, as we're saving that for the full launch. There's also one more feature of the load test... Tournament World Sharpen your blades and refrigerate your Ice Barrages, it's PvP time! The world used for the load test will also be home to a Tournament World. These highly-anticipated worlds allow players to engage in risk-free PvP. With maxed accounts and access to the tournament supply chests, you'll have the ability to handcraft your perfect set up every time, meaning everything comes down to skill. Whether you've been playing Old School Runescape for a week or a decade, tournament worlds are the perfect way to develop and hone your PvP abilities. Or just cause some carnage in the arena. This will only be available for the duration of the load test! So make sure to get your fill before the Tournament World disappears again. Deadman Winter Invitational One of the most electrifying seasonal events is back. Join the hundreds of thousands who have watched the sensation that is Deadman. Live from the ESL Studio, we'll be bringing you the final hour of Season 3. Culminating in a lethal showdown for a grand prize of $10,000! Over the course of five days, the top 2,000 players from the recent Deadman Season will build up accounts on a brand new Deadman world. After five days fog will begin to descend on the world, killing players in its path. Respawning will be disabled, every Deadman will be forced into a small area and, with $10,000 going to the last Deadman alive, they will be forced to fight. The events of the final hour will be streamed live from the RuneScape Twitch channel on Saturday December 17th. Do not miss out on the action - be sure to watch the mayhem unfold! We've partnered up with the world's largest esports organization, ESL, to make the Deadman Invitational all it can be. For the first time ever, you can join us in person live at the ESL Studio to witness the mayhem unfold! Get exclusive access to the Old School team, your favourite players, and other passionate Old School RuneScape fans at what promises to be an incredible event. The end of December is all about Christmas. One thing that we can reveal is that you'll be heading to Mount Quidamortem for our festive tale this year! But more on that later. In addition to this, look out for community events as well as your favourite J-Mods and Players spreading some Christmas cheer through use of the holiday spawner! There'll be party hats, santa hats, crackers and more appearing throughout the holiday season. In addition to this, you'll have the chance to earn all the other Christmas rewards from previous years. We'll go into greater detail about this years Christmas event in a later post, but we're very excited. Discuss this update on our forums. 7. Ballista Rework & QOL mod_merchant December 01 2016 Ballista Rework & QOL This week sees a rework to both the Light & Heavy Ballistas, as well as a whole load of polled QOL changes make their way into game. Ballista Reworks In order to give both Ballistas a place in the game, we're reworking the Light Ballista to provide a +110 Ranged Attack Bonus, with a Ranged requirement of 65. Since their introduction as a reward from Monkey Madness 2, the Light Ballista has been passed over almost entirely in favour of the Heavy Ballista. This corrects that via effectively replacing the previous Heavy Ballista. So what's happening to the Heavy Ballista? In order to make the Heavy Ballista remain relevant, we're increasing its bonuses to +125 Ranged Attack and +15 Ranged Strength. To balance this out, the Heavy Ballista will now require 75 Ranged as well as completion of Monkey Madness 2 to wield. Should you currently have a Ballista equipped that you will no longer be able to use, the Ballista will be placed in your inventory, should it be full, it will be placed in your bank. Should your bank also be full, you'll be able to recover your Ballista for free from Perdu. Taverley & Cosmic Altar Shortcuts We've improved the agility shortcut present at the Cosmic Altar on Zanaris. While still requiring 66 Agility, there is now only one obstacle to traverse, down from two, meaning crafting cosmic runes will be somewhat faster. Additionally, we've added a new Agility Shortcut to access or escape from the Lesser Demons in the Taverley Dungeon quicker. Players with 63 Agility will be able to squeeze through a railing to access the area faster. Barrows Rewards Counter The loot mechanics of the Barrows has always been a long standing mystery to players. In order to give a clearer image of how your run is progressing, we've replaced the overall kill count with a progress meter showing how far you are towards gaining maximum potential rewards. This is located in the same place as the old kill count, but hopefully will shed some light for new & experienced players alike on how best to maximize your chances for loot. Seers Ring Buff As polled, the Seers Ring is receiving a 50% buff all round, meaning that where it gives +4 Magic Attack Bonus, it will now give +6. This 50% increase also applies to its imbued form, meaning that instead of a +8 bonus, when imbued it now provides +12 Magic Attack Bonus. In other news The Slayer Log now displays the number beside "Lots!" The Construction cape now has unlimited teleports to all house portals. When the House teleport is selected, the user is taken inside/outside their house depending on their settings. Existing magic boosting prayers now increase not only your magic attack but your magic defence. The flag rewards from Trouble Brewing are now one-handed. Hill Giants in the wilderness now have double the chance of dropping Giant Key. The spawn timer of Scorpia has been reduced to 10 seconds. The Magic Imbue spell now fades out during its cooldown period in a similar manner to Vengeance. The Undead Max hit dummy is now susceptible to Silverlight, Darklight and Arclight weapons. Messages displayed when eating Gnome cuisine have been added to the chat filter. Discuss this update on our forums. 8. Tell me what you think of these bad boys for the forums for different holidays.
  9. Clan Cup Update One of the most anticipated events in the calendar for Clans is the Clan Cup. We're committed to providing this event as a celebration of the top Clans in the world, however due to development resources we're delaying the cup to Early 2017. Due to us working on some of our most ambitious updates ever, including Raids, we don't want to compromise the quality of anything, which includes the Clan Cup. We're aware this news will come as a disappointment to many of you, but we're committed to providing the Clan Cup you should have, which is not the one we can provide at this time. We want to take the time to listen to feedback, listen to what the players want and provide as much as we can. This means that while we know the initial news will come as a unpleasant surprise, we want to work together to make sure we get it right, and deliver the best Clan Cup we can in Early 2017.
