Zulrah - The Solo Snake Boss mod_ronan January 08 2015 Zulrah - The Solo Snake Boss This boss takes challenge to the next level in Old School. If you dare take the snake on, be prepared for a battle to remember. The highly anticipated solo boss is here. South of Isafdar, deep in the midst of the dank, toxic swamp... Zulrah awaits. Getting there If you are brave, or foolish, enough to take on the challenge of killing the beast, head south from Port Tyras until you arrive at Zul-Andra. You can also access Zul-Andra through a fairy ring found on a nearby island, however you will need 76 Agility in order to maneuver your way onto the mainland. Zul-Andra When in Zul-Andra, we encourage you to play with your in-game music enabled so you can truly get a feel for the area. Two new music tracks have been added to the game to help you really dive into the experience. You can talk with the various inhabitants to get an idea of how Zul-Andra came to be and of their relationship with Zulrah. You must speak to High Priestess Zul-Harcinqa before being able to fight with the snake boss. Fighting Zulrah As promised, we are not going to be revealing the mechanics of Zulrah. We want you to go in blind and be faced with the challenge of learning the mechanics yourself. We feel that walking into the unknown will be a big part of the experience and we are looking forward to seeing how the tactics of the community develop as time goes by. Death mechanics against Zulrah As Zulrah is an instanced solo boss we have had to create a unique way of dealing with items lost on death. When you die to Zulrah all of your items will be given to the NPC Priestess Zul-Gwenwynig. You can collect these items by returning to Zul-Andra and talking to the Priestess. If you die in any way before collecting your items from Priestess Zul-Gwenwynig, your items will be lost. Venom & The Rewards Venomous poison Venomous poison is a form of poison that gets stronger as time goes on. The damage of venomous poison starts at 6 and increases by 2 every time it hits. Venom can be cured like any poison but requires two doses, the first dose reverting the venom to standard poison and the second to cure it. Alternatively, anti-venom can be used to cure venomous poison in a single dose and to provide a period of immunity. All monsters that are immune to poison, such as bosses and some quest monsters, will also be immune to venomous poison. TzTok-Jad is not affected by venom and if a venomous weapon is used against him he will treat venom as poison. Venomous poison is applied by all of the signature drops of the snake boss. Zulrah's scales Zulrah's scales are a 100% drop of the snake boss. They will be dropped in varying quantities and can be used to recharged the signature drops of the snake and to create anti-venom. Anti-venom & super anti-venom Adding scales to an antidote++ will create an anti-venom potion. This requires 87 Herblore. This potion cures venom poisoning in a single dose. Adding torstol to anti-venom will create super anti-venom. This requires 94 Herblore. This potion cures venom poisoning and offers 5 minutes of immunity. Tanzanite fang & toxic blowpipe The tanzanite fang is a rare drop from Zulrah. When a chisel is used on the tanzanite fang, requiring 53 Fletching, it will create a toxic blowpipe. The toxic blowpipe is a level 75, 2-handed weapon that uses darts for ammo. It coats all darts that it fires with venomous poison giving a 1 in 4 chance of it affecting your opponent. In order to use the blowpipe you must charge it with both Zulrah's scales and darts of your choice. To completely fill the blowpipe it requires 16,383 darts and scales. The blowpipe takes roughly 12 hours of combat to empty from 100%. The blowpipe carries +40 ranged strength and +60 ranged attack which stack with the stats of the darts you use. When used on rapid the attack speed of the blowpipe is 2, equal to that of darts. The special attack of the blowpipe consumes 50% special attack energy, firing a dart with a 50% damage increase and healing you for half of the damage that you deal. The base stats of the blowpipe make it an excellent weapon for PvP and by offering a heal on the special attack it will create PvM applications for the weapon. Magic fang The magic fang can be attached to either the Staff of the Dead or an uncharged Trident of the Seas. Attaching the magic fang to the Staff of the Dead requires 59 Crafting and a chisel and creates a Toxic Staff of the Dead. The fang can be removed at any time. In order to use the Toxic Staff of the Dead you must charge it with Zulrah's scales. To completely fill the staff it requires 11,000 scales and will last roughly 15 hours of combat. The toxic staff increases the magic attack of the standard staff to +25 and gives it a 1 in 4 chance of inflicting your opponent with venomous poison when using an offensive spell. Attaching the magic fang to an uncharged trident of the sea to creates aTrident of the Swamp (uncharged). This also requires 59 Crafting and a chisel. This increases the magic attack of the staff to +25, increases the base spell damage by 3 and has a 1 in 4 chance of inflicting your opponent with venomous poison. To fully charge the Trident of the Swamp you will need 2,500 Chaos runes, 2,500 Death runes, 12,500 Fire runes and 2,500 Zulrah's scales. Serpentine visage & serpentine helm The serpentine visage is a rare drop from Zulrah. When a chisel is used on the serpentine visage, requiring 52 Crafting, it will create a serpentine helm. In order to use the serpentine helm you must charge it with Zulrah's scales. To completely fill the helm it requires 11,000 scales and will last roughly 15 hours of combat. This helmet requires 75 Defence and provides the following stats and effects: Stab Attack: 0 Slash Attack: 0 Crush Attack: 0 Magic attack: -10 Range Attack: -10 Stab Defence: +52 Slash Defence: +55 Crush Defence: +58 Magic Defence: 0 Ranged Defence: +50 Strength: 5 Prayer: 0 When wearing the serpentine helm you are immune to all poisons and venom. You also have a 1 in 6 chance of inflicting your opponent with venom poison when you are attacked. In other news... • A trading post has been added to the blast furnace bank. • The amulet of the damned no longer levitates when dropped. • The Christmas event has been removed. • The World map has been updated. • The Archer helm is no longer listed in the ranged skill guide as requiring 45 Ranged. • Slayer dart is now listed in the magic skill guide with the correct slayer requirement. • Adjusted some text in the farming skill guide. • Game messages for crafting air runes are now filtered. Lucky bro! Good job

We began by massing up around 25 people on teamspeak and ventured out into the wilderness. We heard that 420 was lurking out and we found them at gdz. We had similar numbers but better quality obviously. We put up a good fight for about 30 minutes having control the whole time. Props to 420 for lasting longer than Sv. Good Fight 420, thanks for the action.

We ventured out into the wilderness with 20 people in hopes of wreaking havoc on SV, hearing that they had organized a fight with 420 PKers. We found SV shortly after hopping around at RDG, 420 Pkers no where in sight. We begun the fight within only a moment's notice. It begun with SV starting with 16, gaining throughout, peaking at ~28, our numbers spot on thanks to our spy planted within their clan. We had similar numbers, starting with 20, quickly jumping to 29 as we sent out a few mass pokes. The fight was drug from RDG -> GAP -> GDZ & all spaces in between. It was evident from the start that SV could not compete in a similar opts fight with us, our transitions and one-bangs frequent throughout our skirmish. After ~30 minutes of being slapped around SV decided to stop returning, giving us a full clear of the area and a very organized ending picture. Where's the ending pic SV?

OSRS in 2015 mod_mat_k January 01 2015 2015 will be even more magnificent than 2014. We have plans to offer exciting new content, deliver outstanding content from last year’s polls and continue offering regular quality of life updates. Throughout all this though the principle of you, the community, coming first will be at the forefront of everything we do. Content We’re wasting no time at the beginning of this year as the snake boss makes an appearance in early January. You will be able to explore a new area of the map and pit yourselves against the hardest solo boss Old School has to offer. The rewards will see a new type of poison coming to Old School which will give you even more challenges to overcome. Over Christmas we have been collecting all your feedback on the trading post and we’ll be polling numerous additional features to the trading post in January. We want to make the trading post exactly what you want it to be. February sees one of the biggest updates to date hit Old School, achievement diaries. Of course, we don’t like to do things by half and want to give you want so we haven’t just got one or two achievement diaries for you… but 10! Every area of Gielinor is included in the achievement diary update so whether you want to be a completionist or just want something a bit different to do, you will find mountains of content just for you. March is tentatively when we would like to give you resizable mode. However, resizable mode is a very technically challenging project and there are likely to be numerous as yet unknown roadblocks we will need to overcome. So, although with our best intentions we will like to give you resizable mode in March, it may slip depending on the roadblocks. The end result of resizable mode is going to be something we think you will love. You will no longer be tied to the small gaming screen (although you can if you like) and with a simple left click and drag you will be able to resize the game to any resolution that suits you. Also, at some point near the start of the year, we will be offering you a slayer skill update. We will be looking at giving you more rewards for your slayer points, offering some slayer modes and balancing the slayer masters’ task lists more relevant. This will be a great update for the slayer fans out there. Throughout the year you will also hear more and more about Zeah, the new continent. Zeah will allow you to experience that feeling of adventure and exploration you had when you first started playing Runescape. It will have multiple new areas such as a huge sprawling city, new multiplayer bosses and a new PvP arena. There will be something for everyone and we hope that this summer you will be able to visit it for the first time! Later on in this year we will be looking at polling a new skill for you among many other really exciting things. Community Of course, Old School is not just about the new content, it is also about the community. We will be keeping all your favourite holiday events as well giving you something special for our second birthday… and who knows what will happen on April Fools’ Day. We’ll be looking at ways to encourage more players to stream Old School and make more videos, two areas which have helped new players find Old School and old players rediscover their childhood. We also want to focus on giving the players more opportunities to get involved in the community and more rewards for doing so. This year we want to start looking into introducing ‘community tokens’ which can be distributed through community events and via community leaders. These tokens can then be spent in a community shop for new cosmetic items and possible housing items. Advertising & F2P With the latest F2P trial finishing yesterday you will no doubt want to know the future of F2P. At the moment we do not know. We have plenty of information now and we need to look at that to decide on the next steps. This is likely to take some weeks. However, as soon as we have made a decision we will let you know. While we are doing this, any new accounts or accounts which have not logged into Old School for at least 90 days will have 2 weeks access to the F2P servers. Over the last 6 months we have been working on a branding project for Old School. This has included identifying its target audience, creating advertising and marketing strategies and creating and updating the logo. Making sure we are targeting the right people in the most effective way possible is something which will be key to the success of Old School in 2015 which is why we have put so much effort into this project in 2014. The one piece left in the jigsaw is what is happening with F2P. Once we know that then we can move forward with this. How is Old School looking right now? 2014 has been a year of ‘question answering’. We wanted to answer the questions of bots, Grand Exchange and F2P. We’re well on the way of answering the question of the Grand Exchange after we have introduced the Trading Post and with some updates you should have a trading system which really works for you. The same goes with F2P, hopefully we now have enough information to make a final decision. Through various strategies, including the introduction of ‘bot worlds’, improvement of player watch and bringing Mod Weath into the team we have managed to reduce the amount of bots in game by 70%. Despite the considerable reduction in bot numbers we have seen a growth in players of over 15% during 2014 hitting a peak of 115,000 players logging into Old School each day. With all the exciting things planned for 2015, we expect this year to be even more successful than 2015. To discuss this, please go to the forums.
