I got myself 83 hunter to hunt dragon/ninja/magpie imps in the imp minigame. They drop rune items etc to alch and d imps are insane good cash. Pretty safe too, and you automatically make cash when u hunt from 64-83 at chins.

I normally splash in gnome stronghold on gnomes (lvl1). Feels a bit safer and no one can kill the rat with a cat.
